The House of Hungary, a Hungarian Visitors Center, was conceptualized with a blend of natural and digital elements, creating an environment that is eventful yet relaxing, clean yet vibrant. The design was inspired by water, a basic element of life and a symbol of Hungary's rich water resources, including thermal and karst water. This connection to water also reflects Hungary's success in water sports such as swimming, water polo, and kayak & canoeing.
What sets the House of Hungary apart is its status as the first national hospitality house in Olympic history. The design team, led by Gergely Böszörményi Nagy and Linda Szurdi, took pride in being a part of this project, from concept and content development to the design of interior spaces and installations. The outdoor design and construction works were carried out by the FSR & Dupla Design team.
The design team included creative direction by Bálint Füleki, set design and concept by Tamás Boldizsár, and a team of designers including Hella Sarnyai, Orsolya Horváth, Beáta Zaharcsenkó, Zoltán Fehér, and Máté Mohari. The project was managed by Zsófi Sályi and Lili Zagoroczky-Pammer, with graphic design and interactive content development by a dedicated team of professionals.
The House of Hungary was designed and produced by MOBILSOFA in Rio de Janeiro for the 2016 Olympics. This project marked a significant milestone in Olympic history, as it was the first time a national hospitality house was opened. The design team expressed their pride in participating in this project, which involved not only the design of the interior spaces and installations but also the concept and content development.
The House of Hungary's unique design and innovative concept earned it the prestigious Silver A' Design Award in 2018. This award is given to top-of-the-line, creative, and professionally remarkable designs that demonstrate outstanding expertise and innovation. The design was admired for its strong technical characteristics and splendid artistic skill, showcasing a remarkable level of excellence and introducing positive feelings, amazement, and wonder.
